We hope you’ve got your Santa hats ready because the holidays are almost here! The beautiful communities of Henderson are beginning to be decked out in twinkling Christmas lights, which signals the start of the holiday season. Living in Henderson is much more than owning a gorgeous home in one of the country’s best cities to live in – it’s about having a community to celebrate with! All across the city, events, festivals, and gatherings are happening. Here’s what’s going on in Henderson for the holidays!
For the beginning of the season festivities, check out Last Friday in the historic section of Henderson. Hosted on Water Street, ominous-sounding Last Friday on November 30th is anything but. The festival is a family-friendly celebration that fosters community engagement through food, crafts, and art. You’ll see a local farmer’s market, a craft fair, and plenty of entertainment sprinkled up and down the picturesque street. Live music will entertain adults while children get to marvel at the interactive displays peppering the sidewalks.
On December 7th and 8th, Water Street ramps up the activities with the yearly WinterFest. A tree lighting ceremony kicks off the season on Friday, with a fireworks display following closely behind it. Family-friendly activities on Saturday include Santa’s Workshop, where children of all ages can decorate cookies, write holiday letters, and build toys. There’s also a street fair, where local vendors display their wares. Food is always plentiful, and unique gifts are for sale. If you’re feeling competitive, your family can enter into the gingerbread house competition and win a sweet prize!
For someone looking for more physical activity during the holiday season, Henderson’s Reindeer Dash is the perfect fit. It’s not a secret that Henderson values physical fitness (as seen by Cadence’s beautiful walking/biking trails), and the Reindeer Dash is a jolly good way to exercise. There are two versions, a 5k and a single mile. Both take place on December 15th at the Pecos Legacy Park, and participants are highly encouraged to rock their most holiday-themed clothing. Break a sweat in the crisp winter air as you enjoy the beautiful trails of the Pittman Wash in your ugliest Christmas sweater.
The above are only a small sampling of what the stunning Henderson communities have to offer. Each community, from Lake Las Vegas to Anthem Highlands, offer their own activities just for residents. Check your community center or ask your REALTOR® about what’s being offered just for members of your own community, but don’t be afraid to branch out into the larger Henderson activities! With so many things to do, the holiday season is the best time to bond with your family and friends.
